The Framingham 10 years risk score is based on the famous Framingham Heart Study which began in 1948 on a cohort of 5,209 men and women between the ages of 30 and 62 recruited from the town of Framingham, Massachusetts. The Framingham Risk Score is a gender-specific algorithm used to estimate the 10-year cardiovascular risk of an individual.
